The Budgerigar, Shell Parakeet, Common Pet Parakeet or we like to call them Budgies are seed eating, small, long tailed Parrot's from Australia. Wild Budgies can survive the harsh Australian conditions and have been on Earth for about 5 Million Years.
Budgies are naturally Green and yellow with black scalloped markings on their back and neck, also called the nape, also on their wings. Creative breeders, like Chris, can now produce Budgies of many colours such as Blues, Grays, Whites and Yellows with or without Crests and most Budgies inbetween.
Budgies are a very popular pet to look after and love due to the low cost of taking care of them, their small size and their playful outlook. Budgies are often called in ‘American English’ Parakeets as this term refers to many similar small Parrots that have long flat tails. Lories and Fig Parrots are close relations to Budgies.
